Safeguarding Practices

Strong safeguarding helps keep everyone safe

Keeping people safe is a core part of the Wallara way. We rely on natural supports, caring and well-trained staff and clear reliable systems to make sure every person feels safe, respected and supported in our services. Safeguarding is built into everything we do. This includes:

  • Training all staff in rights-based practice and client protection
  • Supporting you to understand your rights
  • Using restrictive practices only when necessary, and only under strict guidelines
  • Encouraging families, advocates and supporters to speak up when needed
  • Wallara has a well-established Human Rights and Safeguarding Framework and meets all
  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Victorian safeguarding standards and requirements.

Privacy and Support

Your voice matters. When you speak up, Wallara promises to:

  • Respect your privacy / you can remain anonymous
  • All conversations will remain confidential
  • Support you to have someone with you if you want
  • Explain what will happen next
  • Act fairly and respond as quickly as possible
  • Use feedback to improve services and supports
  • You can request Easy Read or translated support
