Important changes have arrived for the NDIS
As of 19 May 2025, the NDIS introduced a new system called PACE. It aims to make the planning and payment process easier and more transparent for participants and providers. Here’s what you need to know and how Wallara is supporting you through the changes.
PACE (Participant and Contact Engagement) is the new NDIS platform. It has replaced the MyPlace portal and changed how services are delivered, billed and tracked. Providers now access the My NDIS Provider Portal, and participants see clearer connections between their goals, providers and budgets.
All new NDIS plans created from 19 May 2025 will be completed in PACE. Existing clients will transition when their plan is reassessed. This usually happens around four months before the plan end date, during a Participant Check-In.
This is a phone call or meeting with your Local Area Coordinator or NDIA Planner. They ask how your current plan is working, whether any changes are needed, and if new supports should be added. Based on this, your plan may be extended or reassessed.
Plan reassessment is the perfect time to update your NDIS goals.
Some examples you may want to include:
“I want to explore housing options”
“I want to build my independent living skills”
“I want to attend Wallara five days a week”
“I want to access the community and social activities”
Make sure your providers have submitted reports if you’re asking for more funding.
If you are NDIA-managed, you must endorse each of your providers for them to be paid. If you use a Plan Manager, you must endorse them too. This is a key change in PACE.
To endorse Wallara: Call the NDIS on 1800 800 110 and provide Wallara’s provider number: 405 001 0154. Once endorsed, Wallara will appear in your plan as ‘My Provider’.
New plans under PACE now have funding periods, usually every three months. Funds from one period can roll over to the next during the plan, but unused funds at the end of the plan do not carry over.
1-year plan = four funding periods
2-year plan = eight funding periods
Home & Living funding is now distributed monthly.
If you do find you have overspent in one period, speak with Wallara early to work out a solution.
