Wallara client, Jenna has contributed her own experiences of STEM to research led by Monash University, now published in the international journal Disability & Society.
Researchers from Monash University approached Jenna to share her experiences of taking part in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) activities.
The paper asks an important question: are things getting better for people with disability who want to take part in STEM?
Jenna shared what has worked for her, some of the barriers she has experienced and what could make STEM activities more accessible.
Her experiences form part of the research into how people with disability can be better included in STEM. The published Easy Read paper identifies issues including access to STEM at school, equipment, teaching approaches and attitudes.
For Jenna, seeing the work published is something to celebrate:

The paper has also been published in this Easy Read format, using straightforward language and images to make the research accessible to more people.
