Leadership in action: LEAD graduates shine at Brunswick

Celebrating leadership

On 8 July, eight supported employees proudly celebrated their graduation from the LEAD program at Brunswick Industries, Wallara’s Reservoir-based logistics site.

The six-month program culminated in a celebration with peers, coaches, mentors, recognising the group for their commitment to developing leadership and communication skills.

Building leadership with facilitators and mentors

Oversix months, the group came together once a month for sessions with guest experts including Don Elgin, Good Talent Media, former Wallara GM John Simocks and Coo Taim Clinch. Presenters shared insights into mindset, communication and confidence that shape strong leadership.

Each participant was paired with a Wallara mentor for personalised support and a buddy from within the organisation to offer encouragement and connection along the way. With mentors and buddies by their side, participants grew their skills in public speaking, self-care, influence and collaboration.

A program with impact

Originally designed for Wallara staff, the LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, Achievement, Development) program has been running for nearly 10 years. In 2023, it was extended to supported employees, offering more people the opportunity to grow their confidence and explore their leadership potential.

Key elements of the program include:

  • Facilitated sessions in areas such as strengths, communication and strategy
  • One-on-one coaching support from Wallara mentors
  • A buddy system to support connection and reflection

If you’re a supported employee and have a suggestion for a training topic or focus area, please speak with the People, Learning and Safety team or talk to your Job Coach.
