Variety makes the week fun
Camilo likes variety.
His working week takes him across three Wallara Supported Employment teams — Hospitality, Land Management and Logistics — as well as one day a week in Open Employment at Wintringham Residential Aged Care in Dandenong.
For Camilo, having different jobs is exactly how he likes it.
“I like doing different jobs — it makes the week fun. And I’ve learned I’m good at more things than I thought!”
Across his week, Camilo might be making coffees, working outdoors or packaging products. Each workplace gives him something different to do and different people to work alongside.
Open Employment that fits
At Wintringham, Camilo has found a role that makes good use of something he naturally brings to work — his love of people.
One day a week, he works alongside the team at Wintringham Residential Aged Care. He helps with the laundry and morning tea cart, spends time with residents and takes part in staff meetings and social events.
And he has made plenty of friends along the way.
Wintringham’s Bernadette Eddelbuttel says Camilo is valued by both residents and the team.
“Having him on the team is good for everyone as it brings more diversity and certainly more happiness to our team.”

His dad Sergio sees how much the job means to him too.
“He absolutely loves being involved in the community and, from what we hear, all the people he works with love having him around too. If he’s happy, we’re happy.”
— Sergio
Camilo has built a working week around what suits him: variety, being busy and spending time with people. Four workplaces, plenty of different jobs — and, in Camilo’s words, a week that’s fun.
