Albert had a plan from day one: From school to day programs to supported employment
Albert joined Wallara in 2023 after finishing school. He wanted to learn new skills, meet people and explore what he might enjoy doing next.
He started in Wallara’s Learning and Lifestyle day programs, where he took part in activities including music and iFilm. Albert also joined the work education day program, giving him the opportunity to explore the world of work.
As part of work education, Albert’s coaches took him to Wallara Logistics to try different workplace tasks and experience being part of the team.
That’s where Albert’s passion for work became clear.
The Logistics coaches saw how much he enjoyed the work and the enthusiasm he brought to each day. With his work education and Logistics coaches working together, Albert made the move from into Supported Employment at Wallara Logistics.
In November 2024, Albert received Wallara’s Encouragement Award, recognising his contribution and progress.
Now Albert helps others get started
Today, Albert is a workplace buddy himself, welcoming new team members and helping them find their feet at work.
From school, to day programs, to Supported Employment, Albert’s story shows what can happen when people have opportunities to try different things, discover what they enjoy and find the work that’s right for them.
Albert knew where he wanted to go. With determination, the opportunity to show what he could do and people around him who understood his goal, he got there. Now he’s helping others get started too.
