Where’s Wally? A new way to learn and earn

Wally is more than a coffee van – he’s a training space on wheels.

Wally is the newest addition to Wallara’s hospitality pathway, a fully equipped Spitfire vintage coffee caravan bringing mobile service to the community while creating real opportunities for people with disability to build skills, confidence and connection through supported work.

This is a game-changer. For the first time, hospitality training can go anywhere. Whether someone learns best in a quiet park, thrives in a busy market or wants to serve at their local school, Wally makes it possible.

With a commercial-grade coffee machine, grinder and fridge setup, Wally gives trainees the freedom to learn in the environment that works best for them, and to take those skills out into the community.

Wally helps make disability employment more visible. By serving coffee at local events and markets, supported employees and trainees engage with the public in everyday ways, showing just how valuable and capable people with disability are in their communities.

Bringing learning to new places

Not everyone thrives in the same setting, and now they don’t have to. Wally offers flexible learning in spaces where people feel most confident and at ease.

Picture this: a trainee who feels overwhelmed in a café can build barista skills in a peaceful garden. Someone who loves sport can serve at their footy club. Another might bring great coffee to their old school’s fundraiser. Wally makes it all possible.

Building skills that open doors

Trainees gain hands-on experience in barista work, customer service, cash handling, teamwork and time management, all transferable skills that can lead to further roles in hospitality or retail. The mobile format builds adaptability and confidence – key traits for open employment.

Wally is the next step between learning basic hospitality skills in a program of support to learning how to interact with the public and perfect barista skills as a supported employee in a less stressful environment than a busy, high-volume café.
