Something exciting is coming to life in front of the new Hub@Sages Cottage Farm. The grassy area is being transformed into a Lawn Bowls and Croquet space for clients and the community to enjoy.
Construction is on track for completion by mid-2026. The bowls green itself will be ready a little later in the year, once the turf has had time to establish — just in time for the sun to come back.
New Supported Employment opportunities
The project will create Supported Employment opportunities in turf management, giving clients the chance to develop practical outdoor maintenance skills. There is also potential to incorporate retail elements, including equipment hire and booking management – offering hands-on commercial experience alongside the grounds work.
The space will also be available for clients to use freely, try something new and enjoy together.
Taylor Candy, a Wallara client and lawn bowls player, brings plenty of experience and enthusiasm to the project. A two-time Victorian Country Bowls Champion, Taylor plays regularly with the City of Frankston alongside his Dad.
“I’m really looking forward to lawn bowls here because I can teach clients, staff and the public,” he said.
A space for the whole community
Beyond Supported Employment, the new space will be available to the community for events, competitions and community gatherings.

- Farm Gate Shop – Customer service, stock presentation and product sales in an inclusive retail environment, helping to build confidence working with visitors and the community.
- Flower garden – Growing, tending, and preparing flowers, with skills that translate across horticulture and retail.
- Horticulture and grounds maintenance – Hands-on outdoor work helping keep the farm looking its best year-round.
- Turf management (coming soon) – Maintaining the new lawn bowls and croquet space, with pathways into broader grounds and course maintenance industries.
