Matt’s employment pathway
Matt has always had an interest in transport and driving.
At Wallara Logistics, that interest became part of his working week. Matt gained his truck licence and took on regular driving responsibilities, including delivering tooling supplies for A.G. Coombs to the Geelong Convention Centre.
For Matt, getting behind the wheel meant doing work he genuinely wanted to do.

Taking his driving skills somewhere new
Matt had another goal in sight: Open Employment.
He worked with Wallara’s Open Employment team to look for opportunities where he could use the driving experience he had already built at Logistics.
That led to a role with Blairlogie Living & Learning Inc.
Matt now works there one day a week as a bus driver, helping people get safely to site and start their day. He continues his Supported Employment role at Wallara Logistics alongside his work at Blairlogie.
And Matt perhaps sums up his progress best:

Matt knew the kind of work he wanted to do. He put in the work, gained his licence, built experience on the road and kept looking for the next opportunity.
Today, driving is part of his work at Wallara Logistics and Blairlogie.

Wallara Logistics
Wallara Logistics is a busy commercial workplace where more than 200 people with disability work across packing and assembly, liquid filling and third-party logistics at Keysborough and Reservoir.
Team members work on jobs for businesses including St Kilda FC, A.G. Coombs, Kao Australia, Princes Linen, Checkpoint and KE Optical.
In 2024–25, the team processed more than 9.6 million pieces of linen, decanted more than 300,000 litres of product and achieved 99.8% picking accuracy.
Supported Employees can try different responsibilities and build experience on the job. For some people, like Matt, that can also become part of a pathway into Open Employment.
